Songs from the Voice, Volume 2: Son of the Most High

Once again, talented friends and musicians flew from all over the country to Kansas City to record another album, live in the studio, in just 4 days. This time we used the same scripture references from Handel’s “Messiah” but again, used the new translation of the Bible that’s being put out by Thomas Nelson. It should be available in stores any day now. If you don’t buy it here, go to your local Christian bookstore, and ask them about it. You may need to tell them that Thomas Nelson is selling it (they’re typically a bookseller, not a music seller).
Songs from the Voice, Volume 1: Please Don't Make Me Sing This Song

Friends from all over the country flew to Kansas City, and in four days, we recorded an album of worship songs. There were no overdubs; we did it all live together in the studio, playing everything from acoustic guitars to organs to auto harps to synthesizers and DJ rigs. The songs are written pretty much verbatim from the texts of Psalms in a new translation of the Bible that’s being put out by Thomas Nelson. It should be available in stores any day now. If you don’t buy it here, go to your local Christian bookstore, and ask them about it. You may need to tell them that Thomas Nelson is selling it (they’re typically a bookseller, not a music seller).

This album, written by Don Chaffer, was recorded live in a big room on the K.U. campus in Lawrence, Kansas. Featuring players and singers from throughout the band’s history, these recordings capture a remarkable energy as a result of all being together in the room playing music. The record feels full of life, while the songs tackle both the sad and the exultant.

The second album for Squint Entertainment, this is also the second worship-centered recording for Waterdeep. The album includes full band versions of three songs from Enter the Worship Circle, as well as a wide range of sacred music from rollicking praise to pensive lament. CURRENTLY OUT OF PRINT. Enter the Worship Circle

A joint project with Waterdeep friends 100 Portraits, this album is an acoustic worship experience recorded in a lakeside cabin in Texas. Recorded entirely live, and featuring only hand percussion, acoustic guitars, and vocals, it marks Christena Graves appearance with the band, and features several now well known Waterdeep worship songs such as You Are So Good To Me. This album predated a rather large acoustic worship movement, and has been reported by some media outlets as the biggest-selling independent Christian album of all time.

Waterdeep Live at the New Earth

Compiled from 2 high energy performances in March of 1998, this album captures the best of a memorable lineup (keyboardist Jay Pfeifer and bassist Anthony Case’s last performance). It documents the bluesy “Come to Me,” the funky “Razor Light”, and two otherwise unrecorded songs: “Whether Or Not,” and “Gospel Train.” Recorded at Kansas City’s well-known New Earth Coffeehouse, this record is a snapshot of the band in action. If you love live music, then this is the next best thing to being there.

Sink or Swim

Produced by Don Chaffer and former lead guitarist John Flynn, Sink or Swim propelled the band to another level in 1997. The first album to feature Lori’s lead singing and songwriting, Sink or Swim blends the more acoustic side of Waterdeep with several rocking tracks into a unity that many consider to be Waterdeep’s definitive sound. It remains a favorite among many fans.

You Were at The Time For Love / Don Chaffer

After Hey Ruth, Don Chaffer went to school for music, and created this album at night in the university studio. Under the influence of his recent musical education, and the profound loneliness of that period, this record is both creative and heartbreaking. Primarily acoustic and pensive, it holds a special place in the hearts of many Waterdeep fans.
